Backstage, during a rehearsal for a disappearing act, the assistant mistimed her cue and genuinely vanished from view — but not through magic. She had taken a wrong turn through the prop tunnel and ended up in a completely different part of the theatre. The crew panicked, thinking something had gone terribly wrong. Copperfield later joked, “It was the only time the trick worked too well.”

Derren Brown’s Unexpected Guest

Derren Brown, the psychological illusionist known for his mind-reading and mentalism, once had a rather surreal backstage visitor.

Just before a live show, a man claiming to be a time traveler snuck past security and demanded to speak to Brown urgently. He said he had seen the show — in the future — and knew Derren was going to mess up a specific prediction. Security escorted the man out, but the strangest part?
